A 300-acre site in Dholera has been finalized for Vedanta and Foxconn's semiconductor and glass display plants in Gujarat. Vedanta and Foxconn have applied to the state government in this regard to complete the formalities. For the selection of the site, the technical team of Vedanta and Taiwan's Focuscon company looked at the sites at Vadodara, Becharaji, Sabarkantha, Sanand and Dholera in which the green field approach is not obstructed and the Dholera site is available with power and water connectivity. This process will be completed in a week or so and on the other hand, both the companies have also applied to the Government of India for approval of the project. Project work will start from March-2023 at Dholera site.

Gujarat Science and Technology Department Secretary Vijay Nehra said that Vedanta and Foxconn formed a team of experts from various sectors to evaluate possible sites in the state for the plant and chose Dholera from five different sites.

Banmin's partners discussed this and opted for Dholera as infrastructure and utilities are readily available. Earlier too, Vedanta and Foxconn had evaluated several sites in different countries, but when the Union government announced the India Semiconductor Mission in December last year, the two companies started looking at land in different states of the country and then chose Gujarat. Last September 14, Vedanta and Foxconn signed an MoU with the Gujarat government for an investment of 1,54,000 crores to set up a plant in Gujarat.
